Jill McCall from Feathers & Flight sent a picture of this sweet card; she made it for her niece's birthday. One of the elements she used is the July page from the 1897 Bible Quotes calendar.
So sweet, the pink flowers from the calendar page are a really nice compliment. Thanks for sharing this with me Jill!Posted at 09:18 AM in Your art | Permalink | Comments (2) | TrackBack (0)
Using August's vintage calendar page, Irene at All Occasions Cards, created this gorgeous birthday card. Her work is so perfectly done!
I hope you'll send me a picture when you create something with my images - I love to add them to the "Your Art My Images" album. Also, I have a list in my sidebar with other sites that offer free vintage images, but it's a little out of date. Can any of you give me suggestions of more blogs to add? That would be swell!
And just between you and me, I've created another online class for you. Watch for an announcement very soon...

Barbara Dunford of Vintage Bunty is making a fabric book and has altered the May calendar page to make a cover. It will probably have a flower on the left when the pages are finished, but I want to show it to you in progress. It's great!
Thanks for sending it to me, Barbara!

My buddy Karla of Karla's Cottage has a beautiful home and invited Beth, Marilyn and me to craft together last week in honor of 2 birthdays. (I am exactly one day older than Karla!) The group was willing to play with Gluebook collage with me - it was loads of fun to have a little preview class with my friends.
During the afternoon, Karla made a paper and glue collage card for Beth's Mom but I was afraid she mailed it without any of us getting a picture...then I saw it on her blog, so I get to show it here!
I owe a huge thanks to Karla for sharing this picture with me. For fun, you must read Karla's post HERE about making the card - it was definitely not her usual style!

The Your Vintage Gluebook class starts in Sunday, and I'm getting really excited...and a little nervous!
While a few class members have started playing with their own and the YVG images, I hear from many more who are waiting for the first class. There are a lot of beginning collage artists in the group; it's not necessary to have done collage before, or to have worked with vintage imagery. And there's no need to have a blog - we have a private Flickr group where any of us can post pictures and join discussions.
I'm thrilled by the people registering. Case in point, my friend Marilyn Butler. Marilyn's a genius, experienced quilt artist who's been playing in her own gluebook for months now. She's a pro! Above & just below are 2 of her spreads. I hope you stop by her blog to see all that she does.
Marilyn, Beth and I were at Karla's yesterday and everybody played with vintage paper-and-glue collage. I don't have a picture of the wonderful card Karla made, but here are some of Beth's book pages:
It was great to hear some of the questions and tips that went back & forth yesterday - such a treat to bounce ideas off each other, you always learn so much from others. I picked up a couple of tips I plan to edit into the class content!
Also yesterday, Marie from Lost Bird Studio was kind enough to send a picture of a new page of her gluebook art. It's yet another stunning piece:
Thank you to each of these artists for allowing me to post their work on my blog, it's an honor to be able to show their art.
I hope you can join us. The Your Vintage Gluebook class starts on Sunday but will be ongoing, so you can sign up anytime and get the content. And, the class blog will be open through the end of the year - 7 months!
