On a Grand Tour...

Have you ever heard of a Grand Tour?

Wikipedia has a full description, but I'll just give you a few lines:  "The Grand Tour was the traditional trip of Europe undertaken by mainly upper-class European young men of means…The primary value of the Grand Tour, it was believed, laid in the exposure both to the cultural legacy of classical antiquity and the Renaissance, and to the aristocratic and fashionably polite society of the European continent."

Sounds intriguing, doesn't it?

So, when you wonder why I haven't posted to my blog in forever, just imagine I'm on a Grand Tour. That sounds much more exciting than I-got-a-demanding-new-job, and sadly, I'm-not-very-interested-in-my-art-or-my-blog-lately.

As far as the winner of the November challenge...They all won! I am sending the French Dictionary Collection to each of the artists who entered. I am missing emails for 3 of the artists who entered, so if you entered but haven't been contacted, just send me an email at [email protected] and I'll get your collection to you.

I plan to keep my Etsy shop open as I sell off some of my extras and things I know I really won't use again, so feel free to stop in from time to time to see if there's anything new.

November 2012 Collage Challenge!

It's time again for our monthly collage challenge!  This month I'm challenging you with 3 images from the French Dictionary image college . There's one from each category: the Africa entry in the Antique French Maps collection, a fun page of vegetables from the Illustration Pages collection, and the N (for November?) from the Alphabet collection - I included the black & white version but it's also available in sepia.

The challenge is easy - create a piece of art using at least part of each of these three images:

To capture the jpg version above, just click on the image to open and then click again to get the largest size. Then, right click and save to your computer.

How to enter?

1. Create a piece of art - anything at all - using at least part of each of the three images.
2. Post your art somewhere on the web - your blog, Flickr account, Pinterest, whatever!
3. Using the Linky below, link us to your web location so we can come and visit. 

That's it!  

The deadline for the Challenge is next Thursday, November 8th. On the 9th, a name will be drawn at random to win the entire French Dictionary image collection.

February Collage Challenge!

It's time again for the monthly collage challenge, and I have some great raw material for you! Our sheet this month features a portrait of brother and sisters, a botantial illustration and a piece of victorian scrap...what will you do with them?

Filled with small pieces of ephemera and pages from mini books, the largest page in this pack is about 5 1/2". All of the pieces are great for little accents or ATCs and tags.

It's November, and time for another Collage Challenge! This month I'm sharing a sweet cabinet card image of a little girl. The handwriting on the back identifies her as Rosana Kelsey, aged one year.  I think she's a charmer.
