Last year I had a lot of fun with my 1896 Tennyson calendar, because the days and dated matched 2009 (after March 1 due to the 1896 leap year) Of course, the images are gorgeous all by themselves, and I use them all the time, but I got a kick out of the fact that the dates matched...and now they don't.
So, you guessed it, I've been looking for another pretty calendar in years that will match. In my search, I've found a lot of other great ones, some I couldn't resist. None that match 2010.
This is the January page from a 1927 calendar; I put it in the free album too. In reality the page doesn't look like this; I did a bit of cut & paste so we could use it.

I'm a little picky I guess. I want the perfect calendar to have one page for each month, and to have the days running horizontally, not vertically. Trust me, there are loads of old calendars with 2, 3 and even 4 months on the same page. And laying out the days vertically seems to have been the norm.
On left is a peek at one of the pages in an 1898 calendar I found. Doesn't it look pretty? Both this one and the 1927 will match 2011.
In a stroke of luck, I finally found a beautiful, real honest-to-goodness 1897 calendar on eBay and it will match. I won the auction for it today.
All of the calendars I've collected are so darn pretty I couldn't resist them...I'm sure altered artists in a hundred years will think the same about some of ours.
I have scans of the 1927 and the 1898 completed and I'll be working on a pretty 1899 calendar soon. Then it's on to the '97 and any others I manage to fall in love with. It's not another obsession though, I promise! Really!
