New Image Collection!

Well, it was a bit of a struggle, but it's finally ready! My friend Marty Weil from the Ephemera blog found an amazing 1914 catalog from the Charles Williams Department Store in New York City for me. I've collected over 150 of the pages into one image collection - The Antique Catalog Assortment.

 
There's a great mix of clothing, furniture, shoes, housewares and accessories - and over 3 dozen of the pages are in color.   

If you like to use figures of women in your art, about 60 of the pages show dresses, suits, unmentionables, etc. (6 in full color) There are also pages for hats, shoes, stockings and more.

There's so much detail on the pages and so much cool imagery and historical information, it's one of those collections you'll use again and again, for figures, backgrounds and accents.

Hodge Podge

Well, I have a bunch of different things to share, so I'm calling this post Hodge Podge...

First, just one gluebook spread:

 
The image on the left is from my new image collection, The Baby's Bouquet.  I was going to wait until this weekend to announce that it's ready, but it's ready now. Don't tell anyone! You can go HERE to check it out.

My work desk is a mess, it's currently covered with  illustrations, images to share, images to scan for the new collections...well, just all kinds of paper! I can't get in to gluebook and I'm feeling withdrawal.

 But I have an illustration to share with you...isn't this one  charming?

It's called The Lesson of the Step and came from an old children's story book.  I hope you like it. Just click on it twice to get the largest size.

Finally, Artful Gathering begins accepting registrations this weekend, I'm getting really excited- it was fun to produce and my projects are so quick and easy that I think the class will be so fun too!

 
Finally, I got a diagnoses on the hacking cough I've had that just won't go away and keeps me up every night. (Or as Beth said last week, "Do you STILL have consumption?")

I have Reactive Airways Disease, which is somewhat like asthma and can be caused by exposure to certain chemicals. It will necessitate me using a steroid inhaler for the next 1-2 years. Bleh. I should also avoid things like pollen and dust. I didn't tell my doctor that I collect old, falling apart books and dust is sorta part of the territory.

New Image Collections Coming Soon!

I currently have TWO new  image collections in the works - both will be ready before the end of June.

First up - a 1914 department store catalog of clothing, hats, housewares, carriages, furniture...well, all kinds of stuff. And some of the pages are in color! You just don't see that very often. Here's a glimpse to pique your interest:

Next up will be all of the pages from a childrens' music book. Members of the Green Paper Collage Club got one of the images last week, and they'll get a big discount on the entire digital collection when it's ready (it's good to be a member, as they say).

I'm looking forward to offering both - I hope you love them!

Our Challenge Winner...

Another fun monthly challenge over, and there were such beautiful creations, both paper and digital. Thank heavens I don't have to choose a favorite to give away a prize - I just randomly draw a number from a china teacup.

Marvelous New Project Tutorial from Karla

My buddy Karla from Karla's Cottage is presenting her Mini Dress Form Workshop at Paper Cowgirl in a little over a week. She's had so much interest in the live class (and it filled up so quickly) that she's created an online project tutorial for those who didn't get into the class or can't attend the event.

I've been through the tutorial and highly recommend it. You get all of the  instructions with loads of pictures, some quick videos to demonstrate the steps, and even images you can use.  There are lots of examples, ideas and pictures for personalizing the dress forms -I especially like the fun trim ideas you can use for loads of other projects.

The cost is just $15, and the tutorial is well worth it. I hope you try it out!
