There are really loads of great ideas here. I always like to see what sorts of found elements people incorporate, especially if I use them too!
Of course, there are lots of vintage paper, buttons and old photos. Then there are pen nibs, little glass vials, tobacco coupons, lace, ribbon, keys, coins & tokens, glass beaded flowers and vintage brooches.
One artist's house extensively uses etchings, and it really reminded me to dig some of those out. She gets hers primarily from old magazines, but many are similar to ones I've found in books. I always set them aside, so this reminded me to unearth them and see what I have.
It seems a lot of the artists used small twigs and sticks as design items. Yes, real out-of-the-back-yard sticks. They look great, but I'm surprised by how many incorporated them.
At this point in time, I don't plan to sell them on Ebay. But I do have a couple of big trees in the yard...so you never know.
Anyway, love the book, highly recommend, etc. I have lots of altered art books and this could very well be my favorite. It's pricey, but more affordable on Amazon. Click here to go there.
