For as long as I can
remember, I have created things: messes
in the kitchen, doll clothes, handbags from old jeans, etc., which led me to a
degree in design. Thinking up things is
as natural to me as eating and sleeping.
I am grateful I have a family that tolerates this passion. Especially my husband, who understands my
need to create which many times makes dinner late and the laundry pile up. Oregon has been home since the mid-70’s when
I relocated from Kansas. We have a 25
year-old son and a 12-year-old yellow Lab mix who has kept me company since we
became “empty-nesters”. When I’m not in
my studio, I work at a beautiful 1894 Queen Anne home that is a museum and
event venue.
I am inspired by the patina and delicate quality of old photographs, penny post cards, fabrics, laces, sewing and millinery notions from the early 1900’s. I enjoy preserving aged, delicate bits by incorporating them with newer materials to create one-of-a-kind pieces. I hope my creations evoke a feeling of a time when life was simple and sweet.

Embellished Keepsake Mannequin:
Learn techniques to create a mannequin using an 8-inch paper mache base, fabrics, laces and found objects.
This is a unique way to use small bits of fabric (maybe from a special vintage garment), while creating a special keepsake. Or maybe just create something that brings out your inner diva!
